Alberto Contador was dispossessed of the Tour de France that he won in 2010 after testing positive for clenbuterol. He always claimed his innocence, but the UCI sanctioned him and the organizers awarded the victory to the second classified in the event, the Luxembourger Andy Schleck, who nevertheless declared that for him the winner of that edition of the Grand Bouclé will always be the Spanish.
“Alberto Contador will always remain the winner of 2010. This is not the way for me. My name may later appear in the record book as a winner, but I will not have had the experience of enjoying it. I want to win the Tour in the race," he said in a recent interview.
The 40-year-old Contador, who currently commentates races for Eurosport and is one of the owners of the EOLO Kometa team, won the 2007 and 2009 Tours before receiving the 2010 ban. The ban also led to the 2011 Giro being taken away from him. He finished his career with seven Grand Tour wins, since we must add 4 Vueltas a España and 2 more Giri d'Italia to the two Tours already mentioned.
