- If he shouldn't be paid all year, then I suggest that he shouldn't train all year. Just train a bit before a stage race and up you go for the race. Better still, cut off his benefits and salaries when he's injured because he's not racing and contributing to the team while injured. Is this how it is supposed to operate?
This is one of silliest piece that I have read. Cycling has changed and these oldies are still stuck in the old way of thinking. I want to see riders who race as much as the oldies and see how they fare against those who are well trained in the modern approach.
The fact that he doesn't do much racing is due to injuries and family obligation. This article is basically finding problem where there is none.
- Tadej is not a cry-baby or someone quarrelsome/scandalous. If he said it was a risky move and he didn't like it, It was because he felt there was a danger that went beyond what was usual.
- Tadej himself descended like a mad man in the early part of TdF last year. I remember watching his mad descend to gain time on Vingegaard and his rear wheel lost grip for a moment and skidded. So, I don't think it is a fair to blame Visma for the fast descend. There will always be someone who wants to take more risk than others and there will always be someone who are naturally better at bike handling.
- I only ride road and I have very unaero shoulders (high+wide) and an inefficient body shape (too long back too short legs) with a too injured back/basin to hope for sustained aero positions so not sure it will help me as much. ca bad at cadence, flat or downhill efforts, also hardly ever use up all gears even dead tired at 15-20% but I feel I lose too much energy moving legs/hips and was hoping the shorter cranks might reduce the amplitude and energy for pressing downwards. And with 500 to do before making observations it’s maybe something for a few years down the line if I finally get to a stage where I can take cycling seriously.
- Pogi even carried out the job of a domestique for Sivakov. So, he definitely wasn't having a bad day. I don't think @abstractengineer specifically refers to this stage, it's probably a general idea.
- Just look at the 2nd picture, who actually looks like they're racing? hint it's the guy on the right...
- The theory that having children in a high-risk sport like cycling makes riders less performing is based on the fear they feel of having a serious accident and leaving their children alone, so they (unconsciously) sprint/descend braked . This isn't the case of Kuss; he has no need to be braked climbing at 20 km per hour; he simply cannot.
- Despite having torn a meniscus in September, not being able to ride before April and still feeling it slightly during rides a few weeks ago (plus immediately noticing I definitely shouldn’t try pedalling a bmx when someone came to buy my sons’) I did a pretty tough test ride yesterday 115k with 2200m and a 3km 15% section and felt/feel absolutely nothing anymore so hopefully as far as road cycling goes, knees are no longer a worry, now I have to start working on real condition again.
- Even if things stay as now, it’s easier for Tadej to do that a couple of days (he’s the far better classicer), harder for three weeks where Jonas starts to be in his element.
- Exactly, and for that, opponents have to be fresh at the right moment. It’s a hard thing to do right because you also have to provoke the situation to crack.
