Flanders Classics set to organise European qualifier for Unbound Gravel

The prestigious American gravel event, Unbound Gravel, will be having a European qualifying event this year, organised by Flanders Classics and held in Maasmechelen, Belgium.

Unbound Gravel was for a long time seen as the biggest and best gravel race on the calendar and although the World Championships, - most recently won by Bahrain - Victorious' Matej Mohoric - may have surpassed it now, there is still much interest in the race.

From August 9 to 11 in Maasmechelen, at least 50 spots at the 2025 edition of Unbound Gravel will be exclusively on offer to European competitors.

“We have found what a gravel event and course needs in Maasmechelen,” says Flanders Classics CEO Tomas Van Den Spiegel in quotes collected by Wielerflits. “From the starting site we immediately dive into the greenery for which the province of Limburg is so famous. We will travel across the mine slag heaps, to the Mechelse Heide and the tourist attraction Cycling through the Heide. That also explains the choice of the name Heathland Gravel, which is English for heath.”
