Tobias Foss to test a stunning 68-tooth chainring in UAE Tour's stage 2 time trial

Tobias Foss will use a monster 68-tooth chainring for UAE Tour individual time trial. Does that sound like hell lot of teeth? That's because the world champion Remco Evenepoel "only" used 62t chainring in his recent Volta ao Algarve victory. In fact, nobody has tested a chainring with more than 64 teeth until Foss at tomorrow's ITT.

"I think you will probably see it become more common across other teams as well," Ineos Grenadiers sports director Oli Cookson told GCN. "I won’t go into the science behind it, but depending on the course and the rider, it is all about efficiency and being as fast as possible."

While he’ll start as one of the favourites, the Norwegian rider will not have any easy against the likes of Mikkel Bjerg, Rémi Cavagna and plethora of GC guys, who can perform very well against the clock, such as Adam Yates or Ilan Van Wilder.
