In the end, the winning gap of Jonas Vingegaard at the Tour de France was over 7 minutes. However, for 15 stages, both he and Tadej Pogacar raced for every second in the fight for the yellow jersey. We take a look at the riders who have taken the most time in bonifications throughout the 21 stages.
Pogacar was the best scorer in this statistic, taking 51 seconds throughout the three weeks. His very strong sprinting capacity justifies it on one end, whilst the intense fight to take hold of the race lead over two weeks saw UAE Team Emirates work hard to bring back breakaways and allow him to sprint also at bonification spots throughout the race.
Jasper Philipsen finished second on this tab having won four stages, in the end he removed 46 seconds to his overall race time. Felix Gall featured 33 whilst Jonas Vingegaard won 29 seconds. Despite the differences made on the road, it remains impressive that whilst Vingegaard and Pogacar were almost hand-in-hand throughout the entire race except for one stage (where the Dane did not win bonus seconds at the finish), there were still 22 seconds of gain for the Slovenian.
