Primoz Roglic has returned to competition at the Critérium du Dauphiné and has made the best out of it. Despite not having taken a stage win, the 32-year old dominated the race in the time-trial and mountains, unchallenged in the overall classification.
“The stronger the guys are around me, and the stronger I am myself, then the stronger we are as a team," he said in a post-race conference. With Jonas Vingegaard riding according to expectations, and an incredibly strong and on-form team preparing for the Tour de France, Jumbo-Visma and Roglic are going in with very high expectations.
Between him and Vingegaard both are candidates for the win, and the Slovenian admits that the priority is the team taking the win: “Definitely at the end I don’t care who is winning or taking it. It’s a team sport. We try to do the best with what we have," he pointed out.
A co-leadership is almost certain at the Tour. Although it can have it's down sides, the Dutch team are clearly focusing on what that can allow them to do. They will not be able to experience the same dominance as they'll face tougher competition, but the objective is the same. “We showed really nice racing this week. We can be confident going into the Tour. But for sure it’s a different story there. It has to be the same as here - doing the best each and every one," he concluded.
