UAE Team Emirates have become the wealthiest team in pro cycling and have over the past few years reinforced themselves with an immense amount of leaders but simultaneously some of the strongest young riders in development. One of them was
Finn Fisher-Black, but the Kiwi classics rider will leave at the end of the season and certainly join a rival team.
This has been reported by Wielerflits, and according to the Dutch news outlet several sources have already confirmed that this transfer has been agreed on and a three-year contract was signed. The transfer season opens up in just a few days and this should be one of the moves announced by the German team, that has had a significant budget boost ever since Red Bull became part of the structure.
After signing Primoz Roglic with a hefty salary last winter, the team is also managing to keep it's leaders on board including Jordi Meeus and is said to be making huge moves this winter, adding to their ranks the likes of Roglic's right-hand man Jan Tratnik but also Mick and Tim van Dijke from Team Visma | Lease a Bike; Climbing supertalent Giulio Pellizzari from Bardiani; and the classics leaders of Movistar and Groupama respectively Oier Lazkano and Laurence Pithie into the 2025 season.
Adding Fisher-Black into the mix would assure the team yet another transfer with immense potential. Whilst the team is not set to sign any world-class name when it comes to the Grand Tours, it is signing a hefty amount of young riders who can develop into the team's new leaders in the upcoming seasons.
In 2021 Fisher-Black was already highly contested, having been snatched mid-season by UAE from Visma's development team. Last year he was second only to Jonas Vingegaard in the summit finish to Bejes at the Vuelta a España and has proved himself as a very strong pure puncheur; winning the Muscat Classic and stages at the Tour of Oman and Vuelta a Asturias. However despite this, the 22-year old was not scheduled for any Grand Tour and should be looking for a role of higher importance within a team.
