After a year off,
Tour de La Provence will return to the UCI calendar in 2024 as four-day 2.1 stage race between February 8-11. Tour de La Provence was cancelled in 2023 due to financial problems. The defending champion from 2022, Nairo Quintana, likely won't be present.
Through a press release, the Groupe La Provence organization was keen to shed light on the reasons which allowed such a return and the changes made to this event which has quickly become important in the French calendar. "After this blank year, the new management of the La Provence Group has taken the reins of the event to ensure its sustainability and stability. The Group is delighted to see the Tour de La Provence regain its place on the UCI calendar from 8 to 11 February 2024, on the traditional dates of the race, and expresses its gratitude to the cycling authorities for their support and trust."
"This four-day competition will offer varied stages to satisfy all types of riders, whether they are punchers, climbers or sprinters. The redesign of the event is accompanied by a new graphic identity as well as a new organizational approach."
"At the beginning of July, the La Provence Group launched a selection process bringing together renowned event agencies. It was with enthusiasm that the choice fell on Mars360, the events subsidiary of Olympique de Marseille, to take charge the sporting and commercial management of the Tour de La Provence 2024. Under the leadership of the La Provence Group, the operational teams are already on the road to 2024 and are doing everything possible to ensure that the return of the event is a success."
