Thymen Arensman victorious in decisive Pologne time-trial: "We knew this would be a really suitable time trial"

Thymen Arensman hadn't given the best signs during the hilltop finish of stage three at the Tour de Pologne - the only stage to create differences - however made up for it today as he won the queen stage.

The Dutch had entered the day in 24th place and finished in second place. It was a hilly time-trial just under 12 kilometers in distance around the hills of Zakopane, an ideal route for the Dutchman who put his time-trialing and climbing skills to good use. He took the fastest time on the line, a strong win beating Magnus Sheffield and the rider who's taken the lead of the GC Ethan Hayter. This was, surprisingly, Arensman's first win of his pro career.

“Once the parcours was released for this race we knew this would be a really suitable time trial for Thymen," Team DSM coach Luke Roberts said. "He prepared well for it over the past weeks and we could get him through the first five stages in good shape to challenge for the overall classification. He came into today with good feelings and he did a great ride".

"Credit to the whole team for the work to set him up for this. He finished it off with the stage win that puts himself into contention for the overall with just one stage to go," he concluded.
