As has been a long-running tradition at
Team Visma | Lease a Bike, the Dutch formation will sport unique jersey designs at Tour de France this summer. And this does not only apply to men, but also Visma's women's team racing at
Tour de France Femmes at the start of August.
The team of defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot will be wearing special kit designed for the 'Dream Like a Champion' campaign, an initiative aimed to inspire children to pursue their cycling dreams.
From August 1 through August 9, the women's team jersey will feature fifteen drawings created by children, illustrating their cycling dreams.
"The idea behind it is simple: every champion was once a child with a dream. This jersey is for every child who dares to dream, and for everyone who believes in them," the team presents the jersey in a press release.
The drawings present on jerseys were selected through a drawing competition. The winners, besides prizes, will now get to see their drawings in TV on women cycling's biggest platform - the Tour de France Femmes. Riders from the team personally visited the winners to present them with the jersey featuring their own drawing.
"One of those special moments took place at Het Spoor primary school in Zeist, The Netherlands, where seven-year-old Duco received a surprise visit. The team car drove onto the schoolyard, a rider entered the classroom, and presented Duco with the Tour jersey featuring his drawing," the team narrates one of these encounters.
Jasper Saeijs, CMO of Team Visma | Lease a Bike: "The reaction of children when they see their drawing on the jersey worn by our riders says it all. In that moment, they realize that their dream truly matters. That is exactly what we want to achieve with this campaign: to make every child feel that they are allowed to dream, and that dreams can sometimes become reality. Dream like a champion."
