The new UCI rankings update issued by Raúl Banqueri reveals changes towards the bottom of the standings, as many teams stabilize but Team DSM-Firmenich falls behind, opening the promotion/relegation battle to a more tense battle.
The Tour, where most of the points this month were scored, naturally saw Jumbo-Visma and UAE Team Emirates distance themselves from the rest quite easily. Completing the whole Tour podium and leading the race throughout all but one races, UAE is in the lead with 19.965 points, Jumbo with 18.832, whilst third place INEOS Grenadiers have only 13.357 points.
From 12th to 17th spot we've got 6 teams in the space of 600 points: Cofidis; Team Jayco AlUla; Movistar Team; Intermarché - Circus - Wanty; AG2R Citroën Team and Israel - Premier Tech. All look to maintain their current positions, Israel and Lotto Dstny continue in positions where they can promote to World Tour, whilst Team DSM-Firmenich sits 18th, now almost 900 points behind Israel - Premier Tech.
Arkéa Samsic and Astana Qazaqstan Team, the two squads in risk of relegation currently are now in 19th and 20th spot, around 1400 and 1900 points behind. Meaningful gaps, but they smell blood. Astana has just won the Circuito de Getxo with Alexey Lutsenko whilst Arkéa Samsic has this week signed Arnaud Démare with immediate effect, both teams get a new spark in their pursuit of points, whilst Uno-X Pro Cycling Team who follow right after Astana have also revealed a set of signings including Magnus Cort Nielsen and Andreas Leknessund which could see them rise through the rankings as well in the coming seasons.

DSM has fallen in the UCI ranking after being the worst team in the Tour de France. The signing of Démare will be a big boost for Arkéa to stay in the WorldTour in the long term. I also analyze the impact of the new scoring system and the Olympic rankings.
