Primoz Roglic has won the Vuelta a Espana on three occasions but only one of them without the Tour de France beforehand. That was in 2019 when he won the race for the first time, and
Jumbo-Visma believes the Slovenian is on a path just as good as that year.
"It is instrumental to ride another team time trial with the Vuelta a Espana in mind. After all, the first stage in the Vuelta is also a team time trial," team DS Marc Reef said in a press release. "It is good to refresh the automatisms once more. The Vuelta a Espana's opening stages are not really straightforward, and the third stage already has an uphill finish. It is critical to start strong. Therefore, having the
Vuelta a Burgos in their legs already is beneficial for riders coming off a training block.”
The ideal preparation race for the Vuelta this year, Burgos is set to see several leaders test out their form the week prior to the final Grand Tour of the year. Roglic, after winning the Giro d'Italia, has taken significant time off and has not raced since. He's done an altitude training camp ahead of the Vuelta and is expected to arrive in Spain with good form. He'll be racing with the grand majority of the Vuelta block, excluding Jonas Vingegaard who is taking an alternative route after winning the Tour de France.

He was able to rest, and then he had altitude training to build up as planned," the team believe. "He is in good shape now. Stage wins and a good classification are also a goal in the Vuelta a Burgos. The fourth stage has an explosive final that should suit Primož well. After that, the uphill finish on the final day will be a good indicator."
