Cycling Market - Pogacar races until 2032; INEOS close to a major signing; Visma and Pinarello linked to new names

Tadej Pogacar has renewed his contract with UAE Team Emirates - XRG, in order to extend it further and further into the future. This past week, lots of big moves and rumours have taken over the cycling world, including all of the biggest teams.
After the previous instance of the Cycling Market, there have been some big moves announced. On the renewals alone this has been the case. Tadej Pogacar himself has hit the headlines, having finished his season following the Vuelta a España crash.
The World Champion has extended his contract, which lasted until 2030, now into 2032. The Slovenian will still spend many years at UAE Team Emirates - XRG before the end of his career and will effectively still have two more shots at the Olympic Games.
Lotto - Intermarché have been perhaps the most active team of the week and, in terms of renewals, they have secured Milan Menten, Luca van Boven and Sébastien Grignard.
XDS Astana Team have renewed with Nicola Conci; Uno-X Mobility renewed with Simon Dalby; Soudal - Quick-Step have extended Dries van Gestel...
Team Visma | Lease a Bike also struck big with a new three-year deal for Christophe Laporte, who has been a cornerstone of the team's classics and sprinting ambitions.

Official signings
Several World Tour signings have been made official this past week. The previously mentioned Lotto - Intermarché also confirmed the addition of both Stan Dewulf and Clément Venturini for its team from 2027 onwards, boosting its classics block with new leaders.
The team, in return, has had two of its current leaders depart. Lennert van Eetvelt's expected move to NSN Cycling Team has been made public; whilst Liam Slock will join former team leader Alec Segaert at Bahrain - Victorious.
XDS Astana Team have also added two new riders to its lineup into the upcoming year in puncheur Andrea Bagioli and TotalEnergies climber Nicolas Breuillard.
Casper Pedersen of Soudal - Quick-Step will join Uno-X Mobility from next year onwards whilst Pinarello - Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team have signed Jan Castellón.

INEOS, Visma and Pinarello linked to new riders
The transfer market might still rumble quite a lot over the upcoming months. Not many major names remain available, but that does not mean the main teams are not able to conduct new massive signings. That is because some riders under contract may not continue in the same team for next season.
Several of these rumours come from Daniel Benson, Ciro Scognamiglio, Wielerflits, Het Laatste Nieuws and Het Nieuwsblad. There are two riders in particular that gather the most attention.
The first is Richard Carapaz, a rider for EF Education-EasyPost but an aim for three separate World Tour teams. Recently, he appears to be heavily linked to Netcompany INEOS, who may - just like Oscar Onley - end up buying out their former rider's contract.
Carapaz aimed to fight for the overall classification at the Vuelta a España, where he is currently fourth, but admitted before the race that he wasn't sure of his participation due to the team's uncertainty in supporting him in the mountains.
The British team has also been heavily linked to Movistar's Javier Romo, who is expected to move into the British team over the coming months.
The second is Mattias Skjelmose, a rider who renewed with Lidl-Trek during the off-season but has reportedly not been satisfied with the amount of support and leadership he is getting at the German team.

The Dane was not scheduled at the Giro d'Italia where he had been previous promised leadership, and during the Vuelta itself he has been rather isolated in the mountains and even breakaways. With the withdrawal of Mads Pedersen and the non-selection of Carlos Verona, friction might lead to a departure mid-contract as well.
Team Visma | Lease a Bike have been linked to Mark Donovan of Pinarello - Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, with whom they might have already struck a deal.
In return, the Swiss team is looking to sign Henrique Bravo, the Brasilian climber who has been highly impressive at under-23 level.
Paul Magnier, maglia ciclamino jersey at the Giro d'Italia, revealed that Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe made him an offer, despite his existing contract with Soudal - Quick-Step, but that he refused it.
Meanwhile the German team is set to lose one of its prime domestiques in Nico Denz, who is likely to join Tudor Pro Cycling Team.
Lastly Alessandro Fancellu, recently a stage winner and second place at the Czech Tour, might join the World Tour at age 26. The Italian rider, leader of MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, has been heavily linked to Team Jayco AlUla.

As I stated where most of the race took place was on long narrow country roads with deep ditches and slopes on either side. No where to park a car or stand safely and watch. Every degree starts to count above 36, 37 and each is a lot worse than the previous one. Security and health should definitely trump fans, especially for a free event. - Hopefully with these kind of experiences, more people will start to think a bit deeper about all the exploited that have to work all day almost day in worse heat with no-one to feed or hydrate them. The deaths in the name of being on time for hosting mega sport events didn’t register on people’s consciousness very long, if at all. Is it a coincidence there’s quite a few connections between some of the sponsors in cycling and those events. Makes you wonder how much they’d be willing to pay to start a summer cycling league for has been cyclists, or is that only interesting with football?Jumpyjohn06-09-2026
- There is no right or wrong. Different strokes. He at least knows it because he allows eaxh to answer for themselves, is that what cycling wants? Obviously quite a few do because that’s how it is. Now, I’m not saying he doesn’t have a point but if you’re going to go down a path like that then how far are you willing to go? Will you also reconsider the financial inequalities and other problems precarious teams have to deal with, or the pressures they are under to survive, something none of the top tier teams really have to think about when planning a season?Jumpyjohn06-09-2026
