Finishing alongside his compatriot and team leader Oscar Onley in the group of general classification favourites on stage 2 at the Tour Down Under, Sean Flynn admitted he expected more drama.
“Despite the hard climbs on the route, the race was pretty calm and controlled until the final climb of the day," Flynn reflected to his team's official website post-stage. "Our main objective was to keep Oscar safe and well positioned."
In that aspect, things worked out successfully for Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL on stage 2 of the Tour Down Under, with Onley remaining well placed in the overall classification.
"In the end there wasn’t really any differences made on the climb and we had the opportunity to try and sprint," Flynn concludes. "But after the really hard effort on the climb I just missed the power to be in the position to fight for a top result, but I’m satisfied with how I was feeling today.”
