Movistar Team have given their new signing Ruben Guerreiro the opportunity to lead the team at the Saudi Tour, and the Portuguese has immediately taken advantage of it, taking the win in the queen stage and putting himself in pole position to win the overall classification.
The queen stage saw big chances of the race exploding, in a day where the wind wasn't as strong. All the attention was geared towards the final ascent with gradients of over 11% for almost 3 kilometer, with the gradients almost twice as high in some points of the climb.

In such gradients it would be hard for anyone to hide, and very quickly the big favourites united in the front. Ruben Guerreiro, Santiago Buitrago, Davide Formolo went over the summit in front, with Formolo's teammate Felix Grossschartner chasing.
The Austrian managed to chase back in the plateau following the climb, but the legs were stronger for the riders in front who in the final kilometer went off once again as Buitrago launched an attack. It was then a three-up sprint, where Ruben Guerreiro beat Formolo and Buitrago and has taken the lead of the race.
