Remco Evenepoel closes one of the defining chapters of his career as he brings his seven-season stint with Soudal - Quick-Step to an end. A period that decisively shaped his growth as a professional, taking him from a prodigy to one of the peloton’s most decisive riders on the international stage. He's said his goodbyes to the team in a recent post on social media.
Although it was Evenepoel himself who pushed for a move to Red Bull BORA-hansgrohe, his farewell has been laced with gratitude towards the team that gave him the platform to develop and compete at the highest level from his first steps in the pro ranks.
"What a journey... Soudal - Quick-Step. From being a boy with a dream to becoming a man chasing his dreams. There are not enough words to describe the past 7 seasons. The victories, the setbacks, the lessons, the people who supported me... I will forever be grateful. Grateful for teammates who became friends, for everyone who believed in me, for everyone who made this chapter an unforgettable ride.

Remco’s palmarès at Soudal Quick-Step

After unprecedented levels of domination in his last year as a junior, Evenepoel was a much sought after rider at the end of the 2018 season. He was one of the riders that kicked off modern cycling's pursuit of ultra-young riders, some of which signed straight from the junior ranks into the elites. But Evenepoel was well worthy of such a move. In 2018 he won countless races amongst his peers including double time trial and road race titles at both the World and European Championships.
In his first year as a pro he won the Baloise Belgiumm Tour, the Clásica San Sebastián and the time trial European Championships, as well as finishing second in the World Championships, all at only age 19. In 2020 he won every single race he started: The Vuelta a San Juan, Volta ao Algarve, Vuelta a Burgos and Tour de Pologne, before crashing down a ravine at Il Lombardia which brought his season to an end and hampered him in 2021.
His Grand Tour debut that year at the Giro was premature taking into consideration his injuries, but he bounced back to win the Baloise Belgium Tour once again, as well as the Tour of Denmark and several Belgian and Italian classics. His qualities as a one-day racer would begin to pop out.

Remco Evenepoel, a Soudal Quick-Step star for 7 years
From 2022 to 2025 the Belgian has simply achieved more than virtually any rider in the peloton. Despite having a covid-19 infection take him out of the 2023 Giro d'Italia when he was in the lead; and a crash in December 2024 severely disrupt his 2025 season, he has still been able to perform massively throughout hese seasons.
He's won Liège-Bastogne-Liège twice, Clasica San Sebastian twice, the time trial World Championships three consecutive times now, the road race title once as well; conquered a double Olympic title in Paris 2024, won the Vuelta a España to add a Grand Tour to his palmarès and also finished on the podium of the Tour de France. He has won virtually everything that is possible in the time trial discipline and his palmarès only isn't much more luxurious because he directly has to battle the likes of generational riders such as Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard who are setting some of the best climbing performances in the sport's entire existence.
He has accumulated 67 pro wins already at the age of 25, and has for the first time in his pro career been part of a transfer. It will be interesting to see whether the Belgian can evolve after signing with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, a team with much higher financial resources and support for the mountains.
