One of cycling’s brightest stars is set to make his
long-awaited return to racing.
Remco Evenepoel, who lit up the 2024 season, will
rejoin the peloton at Brabantse Pijl on April 18th, just nine days
from now.
Evenepoel has not raced since Il Lombardia last autumn,
after a serious crash with a van during a training ride in December forced him
to delay the start of his 2025 campaign.
If it were not for Tadej Pogacar, Remco would likely have
been the rider of the year. He was third in the
Tour de France on debut, with a
stage win and the white jersey, and then won double Olympic Gold, and the world
time trial championship.
His comeback begins on familiar terrain, but there’s a new
addition to his racing calendar too.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws,
Evenepoel has added the Belgian National Time Trial Championships to his
schedule.
Currently, the 25-year-old is in Sierra Nevada on an
altitude training camp alongside the Giro d’Italia selection of
Soudal - Quick-Step,
fine-tuning his form ahead of his return.
