Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team have been having a very complicated cobbled classics campaign, filled with injuries and illnesses, and they have one final opportunity at Paris-Roubaix to take a very important win.
The team will be headlined by Kasper Asgreen who has been the only rider so far bringing in strong results in the cobbles. The Dane has just finished sixth at Amstel Gold Race and will enjoy the long kilometers. In his two participations in the race he has been far from the top places, however he will be one of the main favourites for this coming weekend.
Tom Steels will be in the car behind the leaders on Sunday, and he has talked about the ambitions the team will carry onto the cobblestones: “We have big hopes for Paris-Roubaix, which we will start with a good team. It will be the final northern classic of this spring and we go there with confidence, motivation and the same fighting spirit, hoping luck will be on our side this time. We aim for a good result Sunday afternoon, when we’ll rely on several riders to try and make the difference”
Backing him up is a strong team full of quality and experience however it is unsure if all the pieces of the puzzle will fit. Local man Florian Sénéchal, Zdenek Stybar and Yves Lampaert are all outsider who on their best day are capable of fighting for the win, and so the Belgian team may have the capacity to fight for the wins if they play their cards.
Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team for Paris-Roubaix: Kasper Asgreen, Davide Ballerini, Tim Declercq, Yves Lampaert, Florian Sénéchal, Jannik Steimle and Zdenek Stybar.
