On the 20th of March the French and Belgium peloton will be headlining the cobbled Grand Prix de Denain. This is a race that can be termed a mini Paris-Roubaix: A completely flat classic, but one that features lots of cobblestones in the same area as the 'Hell of the North'. We take a look at it's profile.
The route is 196 kilometers long and it can be perfectly split into two halves. The first is completely flat and without any climb or cobbled sector to note for. On the opposite side, the second half is very dense in difficult sectors, 13 in total which are enough to usually create the difference.
22.2 kilometers of cobbled roads spread throughout 13 sectors in the space of around 80 kilometers is the defining feature of this race. It can be enough to create the race-defining differences, but equally the lack of climbs could potentially see a small group or even peloton fighting for the win in Denain.
