Primoz Roglic takes big hit at Tour de France as he sheds time due to dislocated shoulder - "That was very painful"

Primoz Roglic's goal of winning the Tour de France have taken a blow today on the cobbles of northern France, as the Slovenian crashed in a roundabout with 30 kilometers to go and as a result shed over two minutes to Tadej Pogacar.

“I'm glad I could continue on my way. I had to sit down for a moment to put my shoulder back. That was very painful, but I know how to act in such a situation. I gave everything in pursuit. I can't blame myself or the team for that," he described. The crash which saw Jack Haig abandon had Roglic dislocate his shoulder, which he popped back to place. However, having lost some time on the road, he could not catch up with the group of his teammate Jonas Vingegaard who had been distanced due to a mechanical earlier.

With the assistance of some teammates, he managed to cross the line just over two minutes after Tadej Pogacar - having limited his losses as much as possible but suffering heavily due to the crash.

Teammate Wout van Aert said that "Primoz is a lot more unhappy. The important thing is that he is physically okay. We still have every chance. We will see what we can achieve in the mountains with this strong team.” The Slovenian will now have a day into Longwy to analyze his injuries on the bike before an important into La Planche des Belles Filles.

"Hopefully I will recover from this soon. We will continue to focus on our goals with the team," Roglic concluded. Now he sits in 44th place, 2:36 minutes behind his teammate Wout van Aert in the general classification, and tomorrow will be an important day to know if he will physically remain in the same form.
