Asked about the importance of performing well at Omloop, Sagan responded: "Well it's important but it's also very important to take the rhythm of this race because it's certainly a different style in Belgium racing than for example the stage-races. It's good to be here and take some race rhythm, and then I think the real season is starting here, but later in Tirreno [Adriatico] and Paris-Nice it's important."
He wraps off with an important point to his eye, which is that "the main season is starting from Sanremo for the classics riders."
Sagan was on the startline this morning in Ghent for his first one-day race of the season. After having a second bout of Covid in the pre-season he has shown to be far from his best form at the recent Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var, however he is looking ahead into his goals which revolve around mid-March and mid-April.
