The Volta a Catalunya has taken a decisive step towards its 105th edition, to be held from 23 to 29 March 2026, by confirming all the start and finish venues of its seven stages. The route once again opts for diversity and challenge, with three high altitude finishes, unpublished sections and a route that will cover a large part of the Catalan territory, guaranteeing a first-class spectacle for teams and world-class cyclists.
At the same time, the women's Volta has also announced its three stages, which will be held on June 19, 20 and 21, and will feature some of the best women's teams on the planet.
With this planning, Catalunya is preparing to place itself once again at the epicenter of international cycling. The race, part of the UCI World Tour calendar, is experiencing a moment of consolidation thanks to recent sporting and organizational successes, which have positioned it among the most prestigious races in the world. In previous years, riders such as Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel or Primoz Roglic have fought some very memorable battles in the Catalan passes, and the 2026 edition promises new emotions.
The route of the next Volta combines exigency and variety, with an itinerary that crosses the Catalan geography from north to south and from the coast to the high mountains, incorporating venues hitherto unpublished. Among them is Mont-roig del Camp, which will host the start of the third stage to Vila-seca, in the heart of the Costa Daurada. The three high altitude finishes - Vallter, Coll de Pal after 45 years of absence and Queralt - are shaping up to be key points for the definition of the general classification.
The arrival on Vallter in the fourth stage promises to be one of the most demanding moments of the week, starting from Mataró, a city that celebrates the centenary of its cycling club, the EC Mataró. The ascent to La Molina/Coll de Pal, in the fifth stage, will bring back a pass that has not been visited since 1979, and Queralt, in the sixth day, aspires to become again one of the great stages of the Volta.
The closing, as is tradition, will take place in Barcelona with the classic Montjuïc circuit, putting an end to a week of intense cycling and guaranteed spectacle. The official presentation of all the details, including mileage, mountain passes and intermediate sprints, will take place in early 2026.
