Completing his 'Pederslam' and adding a Giro d'Italia stage win to his prior victories at the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana, Mads Pedersen has achieved this feat in the second shortest amount of time of anyone ever.
After taking his first Grand Tour stage win on the 13th stage of the 2022 Tour de France, Pedersen outsprinted Fred Wright and Hugo Houle to take victory in Saint-Etienne. Following that up with a hat-trick of successes at the 2022 Vuelta a Espana, the Trek - Segafredo sprinter travelled to Italy with a clear goal in his mind.
Now thanks to his dramatic victory on stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia, Pedersen has completed the Grand Slam of Grand Tour stage wins. In total it was only 300 days between his first victory at a three-week stage race and his most recent.
Only the now retired, Italian sprinter Daniele Bennati has ever achieved victories at all three Grand Tours in a quicker time. While riding for Lampre-Fondital and Liquigas, Bennati took stage wins at each of the 2007 Tour de France, 2007 Vuelta a Espana and the 2008 Giro d'Italia in just 291 days.
