Luke Plapp has already taken wins this season, and he's looking for more at the
UAE Tour. After showing great form on the opening day, the Australian champion is the new race leader following the team time-trial.
“Although at first I did not realize that I am now the new leader. It was very close," Plapp said in a post-race interview. "We are now well prepared for the coming days. Tomorrow there will be an uphill finish and then anything can happen. I hope we get a few sprint rides followed by a showdown at Jebel Hafeet."

“As far as I am concerned, this is the most beautiful discipline in cycling. I don't think people realize how beautiful and exciting it can be;" he recalls his effort, in which he was a big piece of the INEOS train taking into consideration his time-trialing abilities.
INEOS rode to third on the day, with the gaps between the first teams on the day being quite small. Due to the bonification seconds he brought in on the opening day he tied with Remco Evenepoel in the overall classification, but has ridden into the lead of the race.
He also commented on his teammate Joshua Tarling, who was brought in from the junior ranks this winter: “Joshua is the strongest rider in our team. It's such a great guest. It is a privilege to have him on the team. We are talking about a future Filippo Ganna".
The Australian goes into Jebel Jais tied in time with Remco Evenepoel, but will have an important challenge to his overall classification stint - in a climb where last year he broke through as a big talent.
