Team Visma | Lease a Bike has notably been the World Tour team with the least race days in 2025; and this is a decision made based on performance and the riders available for each race. It has now been revealed that the Dutch team will be skipping two of the main spring classics: Ronde van Brugge and De
Brabantse Pijl.
There is an element of surprise specially regarding the latter, as it is not a World Tour even and the team could take to the start with members of its development team.
Last year Wout van Aert was second to Remco Evenepoel in the race which is characterized by a mix of steep climbs and short cobbled sectors; and will not be returning this year.
The Ronde van Brugge, previously knows as the Classic Brugge - De Panne, the team could have a good opportunity to win with Matthew Brennan. The Belgian classic is a race traditionally designed for the sprinters, often marked by the strong winds that frequently sweep through the region. This is a World Tour event, however as it was only added a few years ago, it is not mandatory for the top division teams to be present at the start, as is the case with a few other more recently-added events.
However the Dutch team can certainly aim for wins elsewhere, as despite the bad luck, it will take to the start of Omloop het Nieuwsblad with van Aert, Brennan and also Christophe Laporte. Laporte and Brennan will race Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne which is better adapted to the sprinters; whilst van Aert and Laporte will race Le Samyn where they should be the main favourites early next week. The team had underwent a swarm of injuries and illnesses; but the month of March looks brighter as
Jonas Vingegaard has also recently announced his return to racing at Paris-Nice.
