Jordi Meeus wins crash-marred sprint to win Primus Classic

The Primus Classic was a thrilling race with several situation changes in the final hour of racing. A large crash cut the peloton in the final kilometers of the race, and the final sprint was won by Jordi Meeus who rode to another strong win for BORA - hansgrohe.

The hilly race was a tricky one, with several hills around Overijse making for an explosive race, however to the similarity of Gent-Wevelgem, the flat finale favoured the sprinters and allowed for organized chasing.

The race has seen several moves late on as the likes of TotalEnergies featured heavily in front, with Sep Vanmarcke also instigating a small group that went up the road including Arnaud De Lie and Bryan Coquard. Later on as the attacks continued a group of six: Bryan Coquard, Anthony Turgis, Sep Vanmarcke and Casper Pedersen. The group also included Victor Campenaerts and Stefano Oldani however, that did not collaborate due to their sprinters' presence in the peloton, leading to the group being caught with ten kilometers to go.

A bunch sprint was then almost guaranteed into Haacht. A crash right at the head of the peloton split the peloton severely with just two kilometers to go. Guillaume Boivin was the first rider to launch his sprint in the end, with Arnaud Démare then taking the front. The Frenchman could only ride to second place however as Jordi Meeus rushed through to take a strong win. Max Kanter was equally close to the win, taking third place at the line.
