Jonathan Milan enjoyed
a standout season in 2024 with
Lidl-Trek, solidifying his position as one of cycling’s brightest talents. The
Italian sprinter captured three stage wins and the points classification at the
Giro d’Italia, while also earning an Olympic bronze medal in the team pursuit
on the track.
Looking ahead to 2025, Milan is poised to potentially make
his Tour de France debut, where he could compete for the coveted green jersey
against formidable sprinters like Biniam Girmay and Jasper Philipsen.
In an
interview with Discovery, Milan spoke in depth about his year.
“In the next few years, I will focus more on the road,”
Milan revealed. “I will leave the track aside and then reconsider when we get
closer to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.”
Milan also shared his aspirations in the world of one-day
racing, highlighting the classics that hold a special place in his heart. “The
Milano-Sanremo is a race that I really like,” Milan confessed. “Obviously, we
have to see how the future goes, but the Classicissima, the Ghent-Wevelgem and
the
Paris-Roubaix are races that I want to aim for in the coming years.”
As for the Tour of Flanders, Milan sees it as a longer-term
goal. “The Tour of Flanders? Maybe later, when I’m more mature. Running the
Ronde will be something that will go very well, because it helps you gain the
experience needed to win it, along with a pinch of luck.”
