The
Tour de France is heading towards it's first mountain stage, and
Jonas Vingegaard as the best placed rider of
Jumbo-Visma - will have the crucial task of being Tadej Pogacar's main competitor for the duel that is set for the Vosges.
"I think we have one of the strongest teams for that terrain, which will enable Steven Kruijswijk and Sepp Kuss to show their exceptional qualities. Long climbs suit me better than steep and explosive finishes like today," he said after crossing the line in Longwy. Vingegaard saved the day in Arenberg after the Dutch team's support, and is third in the overall classification 31 seconds behind Tadej Pogacar.
"Supported by our strong team, I believe we can show some great things in the upcoming stages," Vingegaard concluded. Although the Alps and the Pyrenees will be his preferred terrain, today will be an important test.
It will also be an important day for Primoz Roglic to test his form, two days after dislocating his shoulder in the fifth stage. He's shown good signs yesterday, trying to sprint to the win in Longwy, and here will have the task to start preparing an attack on UAE Team Emirates - despite being a stage that doesn't offer such opportunity.
