Jonas Vingegaard is used to collecting yellow jerseys. Now he is quietly building something else as well: a serious property portfolio.
According to a report by Ekstra Bladet, the Team Visma | Lease a Bike leader has just bought another house in the Danish fishing town of Glyngore, taking his total number of homes in the area to four and his overall property count to five.
The location is what makes the deal stand out. The new house sits beside another property he already owns in town, while the family’s main base since spring 2024 has been a larger home just outside Glyngore by the fjord.

A cash deal in his home town

The newly acquired property cost 6.5 million kroner and, according to land registry details cited by Ekstra Bladet, it was paid for without any mortgage. In a town like Glyngore, that price sits firmly at the top end of the local market.
The house stands on a 1,051 square metre plot with views over Sallingsund. Built in 2000, it offers 146 square metres of living space, plus a large carport and an outbuilding, bringing the total built area to around 190 square metres.
What the family plans to do with the new house is not yet clear. It could be rented out, or it could eventually be merged with the neighbouring plot to create space for a much larger single property in the centre of town.

From yellow jerseys to bricks and mortar

Vingegaard has previously said he is not someone who spends heavily on flashy purchases, preferring instead to put his money into property. The new deal fits that pattern exactly.
Ekstra Bladet’s overview of the family’s holdings shows just how quickly the portfolio has grown. The centrepiece is a large luxury villa in Glyngore bought in 2024 for 13.25 million kroner, set on a vast plot running down to Sallingsund and featuring a wellness area with a swimming pool, wine cellar and even a riding arena.
That same year, the family also bought a luxury summer house in Egaa, just outside Aarhus towards Kalo Vig, for 6.25 million kroner. Earlier purchases include a villa in Glyngore bought in 2022 for 3.475 million kroner, along with a separate Glyngore plot bought in 2019 where an older house was later demolished and replaced with a new build positioned further back to maximise the view, with reports that it was built for Vingegaard’s mother-in-law.
With the newly acquired neighbouring house now added to the list, four of the family’s five properties are concentrated around Glyngore, underlining how closely tied they remain to the area.

Quiet winter, busy future

Vingegaard is for now focused on preparation for the coming season. Reports suggest the team will head to Spain for a training camp next week, where his season programme is likely to be announced.
On the road, his status is already secure. He is a two-time Tour de France winner and the reigning Vuelta champion, achievements that place him firmly among the defining Grand Tour riders of his era. Looking further ahead, he is also widely expected to make his Giro d’Italia debut in 2026, which would give him a chance to chase victories in all three Grand Tours.
Off the bike, though, his growing property footprint in and around Glyngore is starting to tell its own story, one that runs in parallel with his racing career, rather than being defined by it.
