Stuyven came up the ranks in the Bontrager Cycling Team, directly connected with
Trek - Segafredo in which he entered the World Tour in 2014, a pupil of Fabian Cancellara in the cobbled classics and a rider who will fulfil the same role towards the young riders developing within the team. Stuyven is a winner of Milano-Sanremo, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Kuurne-Bruxels-Kuurne and has built his career as one of the most reliable classics riders in the peloton.
Now 30 years old and facing brutal competition from a new generation, he has shared responsibilities with Mads Pedersen, who has since 2019 headlined the team alongside the Belgian. “During the next three years I’d like to keep building an environment where everyone in the team feels welcomed, valued and gets the maximum satisfaction out of their work, and where personal goals are always team goals and vice versa," Stuyven revealed.
Having won Milano-Sanremo last year, the Belgian is still close to the very top of the sport. He's finished in the Top10 of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Gent-Wevelgem and Paris-Roubaix this spring, and will be targeting stage wins aswell as leading out Pedersen at the upcoming Tour de France.
"Combining that with a team that races as one and has fun being on the road together will help us to share a lot more beautiful moments and victories the coming years," he concluded.
