Jake Stewart sidelined for the foreseeable future with fractured tibia

Jake Stewart was one of the riders on the move over the off-season, switching from Groupama - FDJ to sign a two-year deal with the Israel - Premier Tech team.

Sadly for the 24-year-old Brit however, it now looks like Stewart will have to wait somewhat before making his debut for his new team. Posted as an update to the official X (Twitter) account of Israel - Premier Tech, it was announced that Stewart has suffered a considerable injury and may be out of action for some time.

"Jake Stewart suffered a burst fracture in his tibial plateau and a tear in the meniscal cartilage of his knee. Fortunately, the burst is non-displaced and the tear is small so no surgery will be required," reads the post. "Jake will need to refrain from weight bearing for the next three weeks but he is able to train lightly on the home trainer before building up to training on the road."

Optimistically, the injury announcement concludes on a slightly positive note. "Depending on the results of further tests, it is expected he can return to competition for the later Spring Classics."
