With four stages down,
Israel - Premier Tech's general classification hopes at the 2024
Tour Down Under look to be resting upon the shoulders of Welshman,
Stephen Williams.
Highlighted by a third-placed finish on stage 2, the 27-year-old sits 5th in the general classification after four stages, seven seconds down on leader, Isaac del Toro. “I think it will be an aggressive weekend of racing,” Williams previewed in conversation with GCN post-stage 4 in Port Elliot.
A overall winner of the Arctic Race of Norway in 2023 and the CRO Race in 2021, Williams has shown in the past that he knows how to get things done in the general classification battle of a stage race. Can he get what would be his biggest career win this week in Australia?

“Everything is very close in terms of GC, so Willunga and Mount Lofty will be decisive," he predicts. "There are many teams with good leaders, and with it being January, I presume everyone is a little uncertain. We are in a good position for now, so we will do our best this weekend to fight with the best.”
