Soren Waerenskjold has taken the biggest victory of his career to date! The Norwegian powerhouse of Uno-X Mobility stunned the likes of Jasper Philipsen and Wout van Aert among others to take victory at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad 2025 from a reduced sprint.
“I actually shouldn’t have raced until Sunday,” admitted a disbelieving Waerenskjold in his post-race interview, completely stunned by what he had just managed to do. "Tomorrow it will be more of a sprint race, but today it also became a sprint due to the headwind."
“It feels a bit surreal. I have no words for this, but I am very happy with this victory. This is the biggest win of my career, by far, especially with all these big names in the peloton. This is a big step for me in the right direction,” adds the Norwegian proudly. “I didn’t think this was possible, but it worked out. I was behind a fall on the Molenberg. I then tried to close the gap, but didn’t have the legs. That’s why I tried to save as much energy as possible. I also tried not to go all out on the climbs, but in the end I still had to go almost all out. The pace was so fast. It was tough, but I had the legs to do a good sprint in the end.”
