Ion Izagirre with a clear goal for 2024 season: "I want more Tour de France victories"

In the "Authorized Voices" podcast, powered by Cofidis, Ion Izagirre shared his innermost thoughts on his professional life, past achievements and future ambitions, including what he is aiming for in the 2024 Tour de France.

From his earliest forays into the sport, Ion Izagirre demonstrated great determination and a burning passion for cycling. Reminiscing about his humble beginnings, he fondly evokes an early victory in a track race, where his perseverance and skill led him to cross the finish line in first place, despite not being considered a natural sprinter. "My first victory was when I was 10 or 11 years old... in the sprint I won even though I was never fast or a sprinter," the Gipuzkoa native shares nostalgically.

Commitment and dedication are values that have defined Ion Izagirre's career. By joining Team Cofidis, he recognizes the importance of being part of an institution with more than 25 years of legacy in cycling. "Being at Cofidis is being part of cycling history; it's more than 25 years of commitment to the sport. We are not a super-big team, but we have character and grit, we are fighters," he emphasizes proudly.

Looking ahead, Izagirre projects his goals for the current year with determination and optimism. His main focus lies in continuing his streak of success in the Tour de France, the top competition in world cycling. With humility, he also seeks to share his valuable experience with young talent, guiding them on their path to success and passing on to them the fundamental values of the sport. "I want to continue in this line, to give more victories in the Tour, which is the most important thing. I also try to bring experience to the younger riders so that they can learn from this tough sport," he says with determination.
