"I am so happy to take the win, it was not the original plan" - Terrific Tadej Pogacar makes it a quartet of Catalunya stage wins

Tadej Pogacar leaves the 2024 Volta a Catalunya will four stage wins, three jerseys, a second place on the opening stage and of course, overall victory. A truly dominant showing from the UAE Team Emirates leader.
"I am so happy to take the win, it was not the original plan," Pogacar reflected in his post-race interview having successfully made it a quarter of stage wins on Sunday afternoon. "Today we tried to go with Marc Soler, he decided himself to go [on] the first lap on the climb and he did actually a super good job. I was just trying to follow the wheels and trying to stay in the front all of the time."
Ultimately that move by Soler didn't stick, with a reduced bunch entering the finale for a sprint finish. Proving he win stages in any manner, Pogacar powered his way to the win once again.
"João Almeida set a really good pace on the climb and we were a small group on the front," Pogacar recaps. "João made a good attack in the last small climb and he almost come to the finish. I wish that he would arrive but I am happy that I could take the win instead."

This is the new way to hide racist intentions. 100 years ago it would have been different nationalities that were mentioned but in THOSE days it was out of prudishness that media didn’t want to be seen to say something nasty, today it is a cynically calculated strategy not to be held responsible for fanning flames. - I only attribute quotes to what he said, the part you picked is the writer’s explanation what he was referring to without saying anything about it. That’s a lot different, not spreading any details. Besides, the journalist was caught red-handed so it’s hardly gossip or rumour but more like fact, he himself has no facts or proof about what he alleged. But to come down to the more obvious problem here, this “journalist” would never have thought of writing anything like this if Remco had married into a good blonde Flemish gene pool, although a better off Knokke type might have generated different kinds of gossip.
