Domenico Pozzovivo has, as in 2022, had a tricky start to 2022. He only found himself with a pro contract in mid-March, but immediately found his racing legs as he rode to sixth at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, coming close to taking his first win since 2017.
“That's not going, it's not going well. Unfortunately, here too I was in line with the other days, I don't have a very good legs," the veteran told Gazzetta dello Sport during the Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'm managing myself a bit, let's hope it's just a somewhat empty passage, I plan to return myself to the Giro d'Italia".

The 40-year old finished eighth last year at the Corsa Rosa and he plans to return this year as a leader for Israel - Premier Tech. Although his current form by no means tells this couldn't be the case, Pozzovivo hoped to show better legs during the Tour of the Alps where he's facing several of the riders he will be battling against this May in the mountains.
He's been consistent, but in the opening three stages of the Italian race Pozzovivo has gotten himself only in 16th place. He has two more opportunities to search for a result, however his eyes lay on the big picture. He hopes to return to his best form at the Giro d'Italia where a Top10 should be a realistic ambition.
