"I have never ridden a professional race more times. It will be hard, loud, monumental" - John Degenkolb can't wait for Sunday's Tour of Flanders

Despite winning both Milano-Sanremo and Paris-Roubaix back in his prime in 2015, John Degenkolb doesn't consider neither of the two monuments to be 'the ultimate classic'. This honorable title, according to the German rider belongs to Tour of Flanders. And it's also the one dream the 35-year-old Degenkolb still wishes to fulfill in his career.

"It will be my 13th round, I have never ridden a professional race more times. It will be hard, loud, monumental," the Team dsm-firmenich road captain wrote on X.

"To complete the triple would be a dream," said the Sanremo and Roubaix winner. However that seems to be more of a distant dream rather than a realistic goal on Sunday, even with so many top competitors out of the game.
