"He finally told me that I could sprint" - Tobias Lund Andresen over the moon with shocking sprint win and gift from Fabio Jakobsen

The Tour of Turkey is being a sprinter fest thus far and perhaps the rider who has best taken advantage of it is Tobias Lund Andresen. The second consecutive victory for the Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL rider, he was shocked to cross the line in first place and right ahead of his own teammate Fabio Jakobsen.

“This is unbelievable. We went for Fabio today, but it was a very hectic final and he finally told me that I could sprint. I took the lead in the sprint and suddenly the line was there, I almost forgot to cheer. It was really a shock," the Danish sprinter said in a post-race interview. On stage 4 he benefited from the freedom as Jakobsen struggled in the hills. Today the Dutchman was the plan, but decided to gift his teammate.

The duo soared in the final sprint with a perfect timing. However in the chaos, both managed to launch their sprint. Andresen expected his teammate to come off the wheel and jump to victory; but Jakobsen instead sat up and did an early celebration. The two finished first and second on the day, an impressive performance.

“It was great that Fabio came second. He also congratulated me immediately after the finish. He was just as happy as I was. He's just a great guy. We showed our class as a team today. We are therefore looking forward to the next sprints," he concluded.
