Tour de Romandie 2024 stage 2 GC Update | Thibau Nys new race leader; Luke Plapp gains time on rivals; Hindley, Arensman and Sivakov lose time

The second stage of the Tour de Romandie 2024 offered a great spectacle that saw Thibau Nys take the stage win from the breakaway, the Lidl-Trek rider control of the overall classification to take the lead of the race. Luke Plapp was the biggest winner when it comes to the GC, whilst a few men lost time.

Nys managed to take victory in what is his first race of 2024. The 21-year-old gave another demonstration of why he is considered one of the biggest talents on the scene. He crossed the finish line ahead of Andrea Vendrame and Luke Plapp, with both also taking second and third overall, respectively.

The likes of Thymen Arensman and Pavel Sivakov lost time on the road; whilst the majority of the GC favourites arrived together. Jai Hindley shed some seconds, but all in all the GC remains very open ahead of tomorrow's decisive time-trial.
