Geraint Thomas could delay retirement, report says

Geraint Thomas is thinking of not retiring at the end of the current season and could end up renewing one more year with INEOS Grenadiers.

The 36-year-old veteran rider, who will be 37 years old next May, had decided to end his more than successful career at the end of this season. However, according to the always well-informed Ciro Scognamiglio in the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Welshman could reverse that decision. Thus, the possibility of Thomas continuing to ride for INEOS Grenadiers for another year is "on the table".

Geraint Thomas will race again this year, starting today in the Volta a Catalunya to prepare for the Giro d'Italia, a race he will race this year instead of the Tour de France, despite having been on the podium last year. This season the Welshman has only raced the Tour Down Under, finishing 88th overall.

Thus, the winner of the Tour de France in 2018 and other races such as Paris-Nice, the Critérium du Dauphiné, the Tour de Suisse, the Tour de Romandie or the Volta ao Algarve, could still be competing in 2024.
