The Briton had came off a brilliant 2022 where he was a big figure at the cobbled classics,
Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana. He transformed that into his first pro win in June at the nationals, but didn't carry his form into the Tour de France. He seemed to be coming along after it, but a collarbone fracture in Belgium spelled the end of his year.
Now looking towards 2024, he presents similar goals, but with one special race added to the mix: “Flanders is what I’m looking at really going for, then trying to get into doing the Olympic road race after the Tour. Whether doing the Tour before is really best for that, I don’t know, but I’m keen.”
Having a teammate such as Matej Mohoric, with whom he races with throughout much of the year, Wright has an interesting onlook into racing, and he very much finds pleasure in racing aggressively and the fan love that comes from it. “I think you’ve got to look at pressure in a positive way, as it’s pressure for good reason."
"People sort of like the way I race and appreciate me being up there and showing my face in bike races, so the best way to spin it is just to use that pressure in a positive way. Win or lose, I’m still entertaining so it doesn’t really matter for the fans… I’d obviously want to win as many races as possible, that’s my goal.”
