Filippo Ganna has just recently ended his season with a stint on the track, having taken a new Hour Record record, and then becoming World Champion in the individual pursuit right after. Now, eyeing 2023, he's revealed his opening race.
Ganna has previously raced the Argentinian event as his season opener in 2017, 2018 and 2020. The latter two editions have seen him finish second in the overall classification, benefitting from the race's traditional time-trial and gentle gradients of the ascent to Alto Colorado.

Ganna currently has a contract with INEOS Grenadiers until 2027, and he will be attempting to regain the form he's has in 2020 and 2021. 2022 has started off strong, but the Italian failed to win a stage at the Tour de France, and has also failed to net a big result at both European and World Championships.
The Vuelta a San Juan will begin on the 22nd of January and it will be the first edition of the race since 2020 at a professional level, because of the issues caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
