"Obviously, when you ride, you feel the cold, and not
like when you stop and start to do the media or whatever. But yeah, it's
another day, and we’ll see what tomorrow brings. Maybe it could be another good
day with better weather, because now it is starting to get really, really
cold," Ganna explained.
With the race now reaching its midway point, the Italian
remains focused on finishing strongly. "This Tirreno is almost at the
halfway point, so we’ll see how we can finish well," he added.
Ganna was involved in an aggressive move 40km from the
finish, forming a small group with Antonio Tiberi, battling against the wind in
an attempt to force a selection. However, with too few riders committed to the
move, the effort ultimately came to nothing.
"Unlucky, we were just a few riders. If we had four or
five more, maybe it could have been a different result. But yeah, many riders
just stayed on the wheel and didn’t do anything. Then, I just tried to sprint
like any other rider. Some tried to attack on the hill, others on the downhill.
Everyone has their own tactic, and this is the beauty of cycling."
Despite missing out on the victory, Ganna praised the
efforts of INEOS Grenadiers, who have been among the standout teams in the race
so far.
"We did an amazing job today. I think everyone worked a
lot, and we put in a great performance. I can only say thank you to the guys.
Maybe the attack on the flat we could have saved, but in the end, we did a good
job."
