Eyeing new sponsor, Netcompany INEOS looks to sign one of the latest French Tour de France stage winners

Netcompany INEOS has just finished a dire Tour de France with no meaningful result to show for, and it is looking to build itself back up. The transfer market will officially open over the weekend, and the British team might be adding Anthony Turgs to its ranks.
TotalEnergies' dire situation means its leaders should depart
According to Velo-Club, there is not yet an agreement, but there is a serious chance that the deal will be struck soon. The Frenchman's contract is ending at the end of the year, as is the case with TotalEnergies' Jordan Jegat.
The team management publicly spoke about how the riders needed to respect their current contracts if they wanted to race the Tour de France. This comes in the context of a potential end to the French team.
TotalEnergies, the team's sole title sponsor, is now a sponsor at Netcompany INEOS itself, and should become a title sponsor in 2027. Hence, the French structure is currently in its last bid to avoid the fate that the former Arkéa team suffered.
The team has had a good Tour, with Jordan Jegat returning to good form and racing into a second consecutive Top10 result, much due to his breakaway hunts.
Turgis himself did not chase breakaways as has been the case in the past but instead rode consistently in the race's bunch sprints all throughout, with four Top10 results to his name this July.
But like last year, a strong Tour de France does not guarantee safety in any way for the French ProTeam.

The British team is currently in a battle to boost its 2027 ranks, a battle that is currently having a push-and-pull dynamics. Whilst Michael Valgren and Harold Tejada have recently been connected to the team; Laurens de Plus has been heavily hinted to be leaving towards Paul Seixas' Decathlon CMA CGM Team.
With TotalEnergies coming in as a title sponsor, the team's French influence grows further and further. Axel Laurance was joined by Dorian Godon and Kévin Vauquelin this year, and the team is looking to bring more French riders into its block.
The 32-year old won a stage at the 2024 Tour de France in Troyes, one of the stages that marked that edition the most as Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard battled on gravel roads.
In 2022 he was second at Milano-Sanremo, coming close to a monument win; whilst in recent years he has changed his priorities further and further into the sprints, after the spring classics. He was eighth at Omloop het Nieuwsblad and 14th at Paris-Roubaix this year.
