Jasper Philipsen is a Belgian cyclist, born March 2, 1998 in Mol, Belgium. He is a talented sprinter and classic rider, known for his speed and ability to excel in mass sprints. Philipsen rides for the Alpecin-Deceuninck team, where he has developed into one of the top sprinters in the peloton. Not much is known about his personal life, but he comes from an athletic family and has focused on cycling since childhood. Philipsen quickly worked his way up to cycling's elite thanks to his strong performances in both one-day classics and grand tours. His salary is estimated at around €2 million a year, making him one of the highest paid Belgian riders.
Jasper Philipsen began his professional cycling career in 2017 with the BMC Development Team, a training team where he quickly impressed. That year he achieved his first major successes in the U23s, including wins in the Tour of Flanders for U23s and a stage in the Tour of the Future. These performances made it clear that he was a talented sprinter with a promising future.
In 2018 , Philipsen made his debut in the WorldTour as a trainee with UAE Team Emirates. He immediately showed he was ready for the big time by taking multiple places of honor in sprint stages of smaller tours. His first big win that year came at the Tour of Utah, where he won a stage. This performance definitely put him on the map as a rising star in the peloton.

2019 was the year when Philipsen received a full contract with UAE Team Emirates. He confirmed his potential by taking his first WorldTour victory at the Tour Down Under, where he won a stage. During the season, he continued to perform consistently with multiple top-10 finishes in sprint stages of grand tours and one-day races, further cementing his reputation as a sprinter.
In 2020, Philipsen made the move to team Alpecin-Fenix. Despite the challenges of a season heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, he continued to get good results. He won a stage in the BinckBank Tour and was a fixture in the finals of major sprints, including in the Tour de France. His achievements confirmed his status as one of the most promising sprinters in the peloton.
The year 2021 marked a further boost to Philipsen's career. He achieved several victories, including two stages in the Vuelta a España. In addition, he performed strongly in classics such as Gent-Wevelgem and Scheldeprijs. With these performances, Philipsen was increasingly seen as one of the best sprinters in the peloton.
2022 was the year Philipsen really broke through as a world class rider. He won two stages in the Tour de France and took multiple victories in one-day races and other tours, such as the UAE Tour and Eschborn-Frankfurt. This year he definitely confirmed his status as one of the top sprinters in the peloton.
In 2023, Philipsen continued his impressive rise. He won no less than four stages in the Tour de France and wore the green jersey for several days as leader in the points classification. In addition, he was successful in other major races, further cementing his status as one of the dominant sprinters in the peloton.
The year 2024 began for the Belgian and he had a reputation to defend as a top sprinter. But he did more than that. He established himself as an ever more competent classics rider... After winning a stage at Tirreno-Adriatico, he started Milano-Sanremo as a co-leader alongside Mathieu van der Poel who began his season there. The World Champion worked in the final kilometers to bring things back for a reduced group and here Philipsen took the win ahead of Michael Matthews and Tadej Pogacar.
It was a dream classics season, winning the
Classic Brugge-De Panne right after and then once again riding to second behind van der Poel at Paris-Roubaix - alongside Scheldeprijs. Ahead of the Tour de France he won at the Baloise Belgium Tour. In the Tour de France he was no match for Biniam Girmay in the points classification but he won three stages in Saint-Amand-Montron, Pau and Nîmes. At the Renewi Tour, he won another stage.

In 2025 Philipsen experienced a troubled spring with illness hampering his form and not allowing him to perform in big goals such as Milano-Sanremo where he had big goals. Philipsen finished third at Omloop het Nieuwsblad and won Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne at the start of the spring, opening his European campaign off very strongly, but then lacked the luck. He finished second at Scheldeprijs and still managed an 11th spot at Paris-Roubaix, where his form was improving but still not at its best and he cracked whilst following Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu van der Poel's attack.
Philipsen won a stage at the Baloise Belgium Tour before making his return to the Tour de France, where Alpecin-Deceuninck thrived in the opening stage where crosswinds affected the stage and the Belgian team was stacked in the leading group. Mathieu van der Poel and Kaden Groves led him out to victory in Lille, which also saw him put on the yellow jersey. However in stage 3 he would crash whilst leading the points classification in a clash of wheels in the stage's intermediate sprint, fracturing a collarbone and ribs.
However he would make a successful comeback to raacing, winning three stages at the Vuelta España including once again the opening day which saw him wear the yellow jersey for a day. Close to the end of the season, Philipsen still went on to win the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro.
