Yesterday at the Tour of Switzerland, Gino Mäder and Magnus Sheffield suffered a very hard crash that has left all cycling fans distraught for the past few hours. After the race, Remco Evenepoel gave his opinion on Twitter about the race route.
The Soudal Quick-Step leader, hot after the race and worried about the state of health of his colleagues, tweeted that he didn't understand the "dangerous" downhill finishes when it was perfectly possible to finish uphill.
This is Remco Evenepoel's opinion on the matter, in which he makes it very clear that he is against such long high mountain stages ending with complicated descents: "I hope all the guys who were involved in an accident are ok. I hope that the end of today's stage will serve as a reflection for both the organizers of cycling and ourselves as riders."
"Although a summit finish would have been perfectly possible, it was not a good decision to let us finish on this dangerous descent. As runners, we should also think about the risks we take when descending a mountain. My thoughts and strength are with @ginomaeder and @MagnusSheffield."
