Dylan Teuns as been a late-season signing for Israel - Premier Tech who are looking to save their season and keep their position at World Tour level, and he may be one of the most important pieces in this battle in which the Israeli team are in disadvantage.
Although not being present at the Vuelta a Espana, Teuns will make his debut for the team today at the Egmont Cycling Race, and tomorrow will be a strong contender for the Druivenkoers - Overijse. These two consecutive races will form the first block of racing for Teuns, who has won Flèche Wallone and a stage at the Tour de Romandie earlier this year. “I’m really happy to finally be getting back to racing and lining up for the first time with Israel – Premier Tech. Egmont Cycling Race and Druivenkoers – Overijse are two good races for me with a tough parcours so I think I can do well," Teuns said in a press release.
"Of course, it’s always different racing in a new team environment. But I know a lot of the guys well, I had a few weeks to get used to new equipment and I’m loving the Factor bike. I’m excited to see what I can do for the team in Belgium this week," he added.
Teuns will be a crucial piece for the team who have an almost 1000-point deficit towards Movistar Team who sit in 18th place in the UCI rankings. He will however have a favourable calendar to score points, as next weekend he'll be racing the Bretagne Classic. In September he'll race the Tour of Britain where he should also be a contender, and late in the year he'll have the preparation races and Il Lombardia to complete the season.
