Derek Gee has taken victory on the stage 3 individual time trial at O Gran Camiño 2025, in the process moving into the overall lead of the Spanish stage race at the expense of Magnus Cort Nielsen.
Of the early pace-setters, the first really competitive time of the day was set by Simon Clarke of Israel - Premier Tech, with the Aussie clocking in at 24:30 for his near-16km effort. It wasn't long before Clarke's time was beaten though, with the likes of Alessandro Tonelli, Marco Frigo and Federico Savino all setting quicker times. By the time Israel - Premier Tech leader Derek Gee took to the course, the man in the hotseat was Txomin Juaristi, setting a time to beat of 23:50. When the Maillot Jaune of Magnus Cort Nielsen left the start ramp, the lead had changed again, with French youngster Maxime Decomble the new man to beat.
The man to go quicker was Italian rider Davide Piganzoli, with a blistering 23:34. Before the Polti-Kometa man could even get near the hotseat though, Gee crossed the line 17 seconds quicker. Gee was still in the hotseat as the Maillot Jaune neared the finish line, and as Magnus Cort began to tire towards the end of his efforts, both the stage win and the new race lead ended up with the Canadian.
