Yesterday we lived an epic stage of the
Giro d'Italia marked by a crash that made the general classification jump even more in the air with
Isaac del Toro as the main winner once again.
Javier Ares, the Eurosport narrator, made it clear after the stage that until you cross the finish line in cycling you can't take anything for granted:
"The usual story, in the end there is no transition stage and until you cross the finish line you can't make any analysis." The historic radio commentator, who has been on TV for some years now, confessed to being impressed with Isaac del Toro:
"The reading is that Isaac del Toro has empowered himself at the front of the general classification, that it is normal to think about what performance he can give in the high mountains next week, but that he is racing with experience, not only with daring, but with the daring that the legs give, he is always racing ahead, look how Simon Yates has taken advantage by climbing to second place, also Richard Carapaz. Others who are in the lead, like Bernal, have gone to the ground".
Ares thinks the Mexican could very well win the Giro d'Italia next Sunday, June 1 in Rome:
"Total, more time with Ayuso and Roglic, I think Isaac del Toro has taken an important step to try to win the Giro d'Italia, then we'll see what he does, but he has taken an important step because he starts to charge an important difference and he doesn't give in at all. The race is inflamed every day".
We'll see what happens from now on. There remain the 4 hardest mountain stages of the race concentrated in the last week of competition starting today Sunday with the Monte Grappa and with the 3 most complicated ones on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
