Several riders have abandoned the Tour de Suisse this morning due to a Covid-19 outbreak currently ongoing in the race. After Adam Yates and the entire Jumbo-Visma abandoned the race, now also three riders from Team DSM are forced to abandon after a positive test result.
Gino Mäder also did not take to the start today, causing the race to loose many of it's stars. Team DSM lost Soren Kragh Andersen, Cees Bol and Casper Pedersen who all tested positive before the start of stage 5. This comes as a big loss for the Dutch team, even more so with the Tour de France just around the corner.
Over a dozen riders have not started today's stage of the Tour de Suisse, and a total of five riders are suspected to have tested positive today alone. The peloton is then likely to experience more casualties in the coming days as there is transmission currently ongoing in the race.
